This weekend T and I went with our friend Heidi to check out the Day of the Dead celebration at the Mesa Arts Center.
I talked to this woman and asked her to explain Day of the Dead (since I wasn't quite sure). It is a holiday from Mexico and they celebrate the lives of those who have passed on (thus the title of the celebration). The face painting/makeup represents a skull. There are lots of skulls and marigolds around as symbols life/death.
