Afton's 1st Birthday

I'm sure every mother says this, but I really can't believe that Afton is already a one year old! The time went by extremely fast and she has been such a sweet addition to our family. Afton is such a fan of Talmage and he makes her laugh the hardest. Even from a very young age, they would make different sounds and copy each other. Siblings definitely have a unique bond and it is so fun to watch them interact together.

Some things to remember about Afton at one year:
-Climbs up the stairs from the bottom to the top
-Goes to Nursery with Dad (he's the Nursery leader so that's super nice! And Scott loves being a leader too so that's even better).
-Favorite foods: bananas, string cheese, watermelon, milk, avocado, and mandarin oranges
-Loves to be outside. She's very content when we go on walks and likes to take it all in.
-Favorite toys: anything that's not really a toy: my phone (even though I never let her play with it she seems to think it is hers), papers, books, and anything Talmage doesn't want her to touch
-Afton also has an obsession with shoes. Yes, we have a little shoe diva on our hands! She picks shoes up and puts them in her mouth--always.
-Starting to cruise around the furniture. Looks like she'll be walking soon.
-Says mama and dada, but often times mimics words that we say and it sounds like real words.
-Afton has a certain sparkle/light about her that I could see from day 1. She brings joy to those around her with her personality, big eyes, and perfect, gorgeous face. We love her SO much.

To celebrate her birthday it was a "Little Star Party" with gold stars and lots of gold and white to showcase her sweetness. In the morning, Talmage and I went in her room when she woke up. Talmage absolutely LOVES birthdays (he's already planning his 6 months early) and the excitement was contagious as he greeted his sister first thing. She was all smiles and could tell that something special was happening. We had a fun day at home playing with balloons and spending time together.

In the evening, we invited a few neighbors over to have cupcakes with us. Talmage helped blow out the candle since Afton didn't quite get the concept. She looked absolutely adorable as she daintily ate her cupcake. After cake it was a quick bath since it's faster to take a bath then wipe down with 10 paper towels (These days we average 3 baths a day. She also eats naked.) Then, it was time to open presents. Like any one year old she was more interested in the wrapping paper or something else unrelated to the event. Everyone was so thoughtful and kind to come celebrate with us. We wish we could have had our families here, but are grateful for the wonderful neighbors who enjoyed sharing in our momentous event.
