Gilbert Temple

When we lived in Gilbert, the temple was being built there and many Sundays after church we would drive by to watch the progress. At first, it was just the metal beam frame and they were installing the elevator shafts. Weeks and months went by and the rest of the exterior took shape. Then, it seemed like nothing was happening that we could see since they were working on the inside of the temple. We had been anticipating its completion for a couple years and were excited to go through the open house along with our good friends and next door neighbors (who sadly moved just last week).

It was also a memorable experience to go through the Gilbert temple and look at the beautiful, ornate details on the walls, floors, and ceiling. The agave design was displayed throughout the temple in many sizes. Of course as everyone entered the Celestial room there was an audible gasp as our eyes were directed to the biggest, sparkliest chandelier we'd ever seen. The Spirit was strong and I felt so blessed to share those moments with my family and friends.

Talmage was especially excited to go in the completed temple-his first open house. It is the 142nd operating temple and the largest one built in 17 years!

Today we attended the dedication and I'm so glad we have another temple here in Arizona.
